And God took a handful of southerly wind,

blew his breath over it and created the horse.

                                                                                              --Bedouin Legend

Arabians have long been the subject of legends.  Highly prized by the Bedouin tribes, Arabians were the object of careful breeding, extensive record keeping and, sometimes, contention between tribes.  Such breeding resulted in a very prepotent horse, able to stamp progeny with many of the Arabian characteristics, including beauty, courage, endurance and tractability.  In fact, some taxonomy experts consider Arabians to be a sub-species of horse, due anatomical differences such as bone density and vertebral count.

Centuries of being born and bred in very close association with man developed a breed with unsurpassed gentleness, affection and closeness with his human "family".   It is not unusual for a very young foal to whinny and come running to the people in his life, leaving mom to come running after.  Such familiarity can be a little troublesome occasionally when your horse decides to "help" with a project!

Braefiddich Farm has devoted many years to this remarkable horse.  We strive to breed beautiful, typey, correct Arabians with performance ability.  Our Arabians are athletic versatile performers, under saddle and harness, for any discipline.  Their type and carriage leaves no doubt they are Arabians.  Braefiddich horses have been successful in the show ring, dressage competitions, hunter/jumper courses and competitive trail.  More importantly, they have the disposition to invaluable as the family pet/mount.

Founded with strong Crabbet lines, Braefiddich added a Russian influence to our program when we purchased Von Ali Mufasa.  Mufasa has the very qualities we have always stressed - athletic, beautiful, intelligent and he is the sweetest horse.  For a horse to show, compete on the trails, work livestock or for your child to enjoy, please consider an Arabian, either from Braefiddich or another farm!

As Daniel C. Gainey said -

"The Arabian horse is grace, speed, endurance, conformation and intelligence.

More - he is love, sympathy, courage, beauty, friendship, loyalty.  How fortunate to own an Arabian, especially is one is wise enough to truly appreciate the relationship."
